Owner’s Perspective
Let me set the scene: it’s a Friday night, the week’s been rough, and my friend had just convinced me to dive into a new show on my favorite streaming service (we all know the one). What was supposed to be “I’ll just watch the first episode,” turned into a binge-watch that lasted into the early morning. You’ve been there, am I right? You tell yourself just one more episode, but the cliffhangers are just so darn good.
Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue, except for one thing: Friday nights are also movie nights with Buster. Every week like clockwork, 8 PM rolls around, and we settle in with a bowl of popcorn (okay, two bowls – Buster insists on having his own) to watch a dog-friendly flick. But this Friday, I was so absorbed in the gripping plot of my new show that I completely forgot about our tradition.
Buster was confused. His head tilted, ears perking up at the unfamiliar sound of the show theme song, not the opening credits of his favorite dog movie. I apologized and tried to share some of my popcorn, but his tail didn’t wag. He simply sighed, dropped his favorite squeaky toy at my feet, and retreated to his bed. I’d betrayed Buster for the allure of a television series. Yikes.
Buster’s Betrayal: Bubble-Bursting Binge Watching
Regular Friday nights? AWESOME. We cuddle on the couch. We have popcorn. We watch movies about DOGS. It’s THE BEST.
Except this Friday wasn’t regular. 8 o’clock came and went, but no movie. No popcorn bowl filled with delicious bites just for me. Just some weird unfamiliar theme song. A TV show with NOT EVEN A SINGLE DOG in it. Unbelievable.
I did my part. I reminded her. I fetched my toy and wagged my tail. I even tried to exchange her weird remote control for my adorable squeaky toy. But, NO. She was in a show hole! Heck, I’m pretty sure she didn’t even notice my dramatic sighs and heartbroken stares.
The betrayal. The utter letdown. Could the human I trusted most, abandon our beloved popcorn-filled, tail-wagging tradition? Just because of a TV show about NOT DOGS?
Crisis Averted
Suffice to say, I couldn’t get those sad Buster eyes out of my mind. I even paused my show half-way through an episode, feeling guilt creeping ever deeper. It was time to rectify the situation.
So I did what any sane, respectably guilty dog-owner would do – I decided a trip to The Hungry Puppy was in order. You know, the type of guilt that sends you immediately to the car, yelling “Buster, get your leash! Adventure awaits!”
At The Hungry Puppy, I picked out the biggest box of popcorn-flavored treats. Buster’s nose started twitching as soon as I got the box down from the shelf. The Primal freeze-dried treats were impossible to resist, even for a dog nursing a grudge.
On our way home, I popped open the box and handed Buster his popcorn fix right in the car. The tail wagging and eager munching was all the forgiveness I needed. Buster forgave, and our bond was repaired – all thanks to the golden power of popcorn (in treat form, of course).
Crisis averted. Movie night is back on the schedule. Dog no longer hates me (though we might need to renegotiate my TV privileges).
Whether you’re appeasing a TV-neglected pup or simply enhancing your mutual movie night, The Hungry Puppy has a treat to mend every slight. Visit the store today or conveniently order online at thehungrypuppy.com.
