But his doctor says she’s a tad above the healthy weight range, and here I am, neck-deep in guilt, trying to introduce the canine equivalent of green smoothies.

I braced myself and advanced the broccoli treat (which, by the way, smelled okay-ish). You should’ve seen her face. Eyes narrowed. Ears pricked. Such intense focus, as if judging the life out of this green monstrosity. She gingerly accepted the pro-offered treat, sniffed once, took a small bite, and then dropped it like she just found out it’s radioactive.

At that moment, I knew. I was in Bella’s bad books. As I stood there, holding my breath, Bella sauntered off to her mat, threw me one last incredulous look, and plopped down with an aggrieved sigh. It was as if she was saying, “how could you, hooman?”

Bella’s Perspective: The Green-Blob Debacle

Listen, I was having the perfect day. Car ride, park visit, belly rubs — heck, it even smelled like she might be thawing some chicken for dinner. And then, bam! Hooman strikes with this…this imposter!

What’s next, kale? Carrot sticks? Is this some new diet she’s putting me through? This demands a protest. A hunger strike. Yes, that’s what I’ll do. Nothing but prime chicken will make me move from this mat.

How Peace Was Restored
