My Dog Really Hates Me Because…

…The (Not So) Great Cookie Heist

The Owner’s Side

Sometimes, just sometimes, a situation is so tempting you find yourself in a cookie jar dilemma. I admit it. The new batch of homemade dog cookies from The Hungry Puppy looked delicious. I told myself I was just testing it for quality. I told myself, “One bite wouldn’t hurt.” I told myself, “The dog won’t even know, right?”

As I took that first bite of cookie, Buster, my loyal four-legged companion, looked at me. His chocolate-brown eyes widened. His tail wagged slower. His ears, usually perky, sagged just a fraction. It was a look of quiet devastation.

How do you explain to a dog that you’re not necessarily stealing, but merely partaking in a mutual treat experience? I tried. I even offered him another treat from the jar afterward (okay, two. Fine, it was three). But it was clear. The bond was broken. The trust was violated. The cookie jar was forever tainted.

Buster Busts Me

I KNEW IT. I always knew the cookie jar was important. I’ve seen the jar placed on the high shelf. I’ve heard the promises. “Only for good boys, Buster.” “You’ll get one after the walk, Buster.”

Then came the CRUEL deception. She TOOK a bite. Of MY COOKIE. MY dog cookie. This was a crime. A BETRAYAL. A heinous act of thievery!

I wagged my tail slower. I lowered my ears. I sighed loudly. Maybe she’d notice my patience. Maybe she’d realize it was MY TREAT. But no. She kept munching. On MY COOKIE. The audacity!

Peace Restored: The Cookie Apology

The tail hang low. The ears drooped. The big, sad eyes… it was more than I could bear. With a sigh, I grabbed my keys from the hook, leaving my half-eaten cookie on the counter. “Alright, Buster,” I said, “Let’s fix this.”

A quick trip to The Hungry Puppy and I had replacements – a bag of Pawfection Bakery oven-baked dog cookies. All-natural, crunchy, and (I hoped) delicious enough to make amends.

When I came home, I presented him with one of the new cookies. He sniffed it… and then his tail started wagging so intensely I thought it could start a windstorm.

The Happy Cookie Ending

Crisis averted. Cookie gate was over. Dog no longer hates me (though the cookie jar now lives on an even higher shelf).

The Hungry Puppy’s collection of premium dog cookies really outshines my questionable cookie-eating decisions – and with options like Pawfection Bakery’s oven-baked cookies, you can find something your pup will love. Visit thehungrypuppy.com to start exploring and order online, or stop by the store, and don’t forget to grab a cookie for yourself (human cookies, not dog ones. Trust me on this).
